Encore Players is Livermore’s community theatre group.
Community theatre is a legacy of Livermore’s cultural heritage. Sixty years ago, new arrivals to the community created Cask and Mask and turned a one-room, rural school house into the 99-seat May School Theatre where they produced plays for over 20 years.
Encore Players brings that past into Livermore’s present cultural scene. Started in 2014 by those who were active in Cask and Mask, it provides a venue for amateur actors and directors (the root of the word amateur is “for the love of”) to share their passion for theatre with the community. While we accept actors of all ages, we particularly look for works that give ‘seasoned’ actors an opportunity to perform.
Encore Players provides an ‘encore’ for community theatre in Livermore—for those whose passion for theatre calls for them to take the stage again, and for those who take it for the first time—to tell the stories that compel the audience to suspend their disbelief.
