Class: Improv Workshop

Thursday, August 29, 7-9:30 – 2172 Railroad Ave., Livermore

Class Description:  The basics of improvisation — The “yes, and…” agreement, making your partner look good, group trust/team building, turning off your editor, to emphasize the fun and freedom of PLAY! We will do some beginning group building exercises and some spontaneity and creativity exercises. We’ll go over the different types of games, and the difference between the “hoop” games (those games that you have to follow certain rules to the game) and narrative based games. 

Instructor – Lisa Barber is a director / member of Suburban Thunder Improv Company in San Ramon and teaches and coaches ages 10-75 through San Ramon Parks and Rec. She has studied improv with Keith Johnstone at BATS Improv in San Francisco, Kasey Klemm at Berkeley Rep, and storytelling with David Ford at The Marsh Berkeley. She recently coached a middle school team who competed in Destination Imagination and took 2nd in the improv category at the world competition!
